CITY COUNCIL

WORKSHOP

MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2026

7:00 P.M.

A workshop of the City Council of the City of Claremont, Minnesota, was called to order on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Claremont City Hall.

Members present: Mayor Jared Sultze. City Council Members: Deb Ellis, Ethan Johnson, Donna Gregory, and Krystal Sultze. Members absent: None. City Staff and others are present: City Administrator Elizabeth Sorg, Hannah Behnken, Timothy Hudson, Elle Johnson, Nicholas Sultze, and Alec Vaughn.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

The purpose of this workshop was to give the residents of Claremont an opportunity to let the council know what they would like to have in Henning Park. Mayor Sultze stated that all ideas are welcome but some things will not be able to be done or purchased this year, but they can include them in future budgets.

There were several ideas given by those present and by email. The ideas included maintaining the ball field by adding bases and lines and keeping weeds controlled. Adding benches to the dugouts, put a picnic table there, build a pavilion or gazebo so parents can watch their children playball out of the sun and children have a place to cool off. Repair concrete and move basketball hoops to be on both ends for full court play and add nets to the hoops. Add a pickleball court either with new concrete laid or share the basketball court. There were 3 musical play items purchased last year with a grant and they will be added to a new play area. Add playground equipment for smaller children. Add lines for the soccer field and fix the soccer nets. Tim Hudson volunteered to handle the weeds if need be. The pricing of pavilion or gazebo and a list of what can accomplished this year with what is allocated to the budget will be on the agenda for the May City Council Meeting. Thank you to all those who attended and those who sent emails with ideas. Thank you to the children for their ideas that were shared by Council Member Gregory.

Meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.

Deborah Ellis, Assistant City Clerk

Jared Sultze, Mayor
