SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, JANUARY 27, 2025
7:00 P.M.
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Claremont, Minnesota was called to order on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Claremont City Hall.
Members present: Interim Mayor Ryan Hedberg, City Council Members: Deb Ellis, Krystal Sultze, and Donna Gregory. Members absent: None. City staff and others present: City Administrator Elizabeth Sorg, Anna Zylstra, Jim Zylstra, Alec Vaughn, Denise Schwering, Ed Krenke, Mary Goulette, Jared Sultze, Jamie Sultze, David Sommer, Nick Sultze, Terri Schuette, Elise Ness, Hanna Niska, Carter Behnken, Elle Leeper, Ethan Johnson, Timothy Hudson, Bret Nordstrom, Teryn Coffman, Kari Striver, and David Stein.
The pledge of allegiance was recited.
The purpose of this special meeting was to appoint a resident for the open Mayor seat. Six residents applied for the mayor seat: Jared Sultze, Ethan Johnson, Timothy Hudson, David Stein, Cindy Johnson, and Bret Nordstrom.
The council asked the applicants questions and discussed issues with each applicant.
Motion by Hedberg to appoint Jared Sultze for Mayor, second by Ellis. Ayes: Hedberg and Ellis. Nay: Gregory. Abstain: Sultze. Motion carried.
Motion by Sultze to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 p.m., second by Ellis. Motion carried unanimously.
