Dodge County Girl’s Wildcat Hockey

The Dodge County Wildcats have had a great season this year. The girls traveled to the Grand Casino Arena this past weekend. They defeated Albert Lea 3-2 in the section1 -1A championship game. Next they overcame Proctor/Hermantown in the quarter finals with a 3-2 victory scoring the winning goal in overtime. Friday they advanced to the semi finals where they met Warroad for the third year in a row. Last year the girls won the state title with a 4-3 victory over the Warriors in overtime. On Friday February 19th the Wildcats met the Warriors determined to take the championship for the second year in a row.

The Wildcats were in the lead at the end of the first period 2-0 but gave up three goals in the second and were tied going into the final period. The Warriors were leading by one goal with 85 seconds left in the game when the Wildcats scored twice to force an overtime. Unfortunately, the Warriors were first to score in overtime and advanced to the finals to face Breck for the championship. The Wildcats met Blake on Saturday at 10am for the consolation game dominating the Bears with a 4-1 victory to end the season in third place in class 1A hockey.
