Howard, 45, of St. Charles, who passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024 will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. A time of gathering will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., prior to service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Concord Cemetery, Concord, MN. On that date, the family will hold an additional Celebration of Life in West Concord.
Doug was born on May 20, 1979 to Ken and Norma Howard. He grew up in West Concord, MN. He was the youngest of four children and was known by them for being the spoiled one. It seemed he was frequently getting into mischief and getting away with it. As an adult, he was known for his sarcastic personality and witty humor. He graduated from Triton High School in Dodge Center, MN and went on to attend Rochester Community and Technical College. He then continued his education at Minnesota State University, Mankato where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and minored in Human Resources.
Upon graduation, Doug settled in Iowa where he raised his family and began his professional career as a Safety Manager for Hormel. In 2018, he met the love of his life, Angela. They recently got engaged to be married.
Doug’s proudest accomplishment in life was having and raising his three children, Ethan, Andrew, and Clara. His life was devoted to the kids. You could always depend on Doug to attend their activities and be there for them in any way he could. Doug was a boy scout leader for many years, and he volunteered as assistant coach for Clara’s softball team. Doug enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings. Every year he made time to go to games with his kids and friends. When Doug and Angela became close, he gained two bonus children, Jaden and Peyton. Between their five children, they did not have too much spare time as they attended many sporting events.
Doug is survived by his children, Ethan Howard, Andrew Howard, Clara Howard; fiancé, Angela McDonald; her children Jaden and Peyton; mother, Norma Howard; siblings, Kenneth (Lisa) Howard, Barb (Tim) Robinson, Scott (Darla) Howard; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in memory of Doug to Toys for Tots.
