Jeffrey Scott Schlachter was born on July 6, 1955, and died peacefully at his home in Claremont, after a battle with cancer on December 20, 2024.
Jeff was born to George and Marie (Romano) Schlachter in Elgin Illinois. The family lived in Algonquin, Illinois, until he was nine years old. They then moved to Minnetonka, MN. He graduated from Minnetonka Senior High in 1974. Jeffrey and Sandra (Wagner) were united in marriage in 1977 and resided in Stewartville. They then moved to Rochester and later to Claremont in 2008.
He worked at Pepsi Cola Company while he was going to school to become a mechanic. Jeff enjoyed all things automotive and never believed in junk cars, and just the next. He was an honest mechanic and never pushed owners into unwanted repairs. Jeff worked at various mechanic shops before working at McNelius in Dodge Center. He enjoyed trips to northern Minnesota and camping in Arizona. He enjoyed his family and all the funny stories that they shared.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Jeremy Schlachter, of Garden City, Amanda Schlachter of Owatonna, Andrea (and Dave) Meskill of Rochester; grandchildren, Hailey and Savannah Meskill; brother, Steven (and Senait) Schlachter of Mound; sister, Linda (and Wayne) Mueller of Maple Plain; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie Schlachter; son, Jamie, who also shared his father’s love of cars.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11AM, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
