Lyle Leroy Lyke, 90, of Claremont, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 8, 2024. Born on March 1, 1934, to Gustave and Alice (Fogelberg) Lyke. Lyle graduated from Dover High School in 1952. He met the woman of his dreams, Ida Brekke, and together they had five children. Lyle led a fulfilling life as a dedicated truck driver, traversing the lower 48 states. His stories of the cities he visited and the people he met along the way enriched the lives of those around him.

Lyle was a beloved member of First Presbyterian Church of Claremont, where he found a strong community and spiritual peace. In his early years, Lyle enjoyed roller skating every weekend, a hobby that reflected his love for lively activities. Later in life, he found joy in helping on the farm and engaging in various outdoor activities at home, always staying active and involved.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ida; sons, David (and Gail), Duane, Dan (and Mia), and Dale (and Annette); brother, Gary Lyke of Phenix city, AL; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family member Gary Meyers.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gustave and Alice Lyke, brother, Virgil Lyke; daughter Marlene Lyke; grandson, Ory Lyke.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 15th, 2024, at 11AM at First Presbyterian Church in Claremont. A visitation started one hour prior to the service. Interment was in the Moland Lutheran Cemetery in rural Kenyon. Lyle’s life was marked by his kindness, hard work, and the love he shared with his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
