Just kidding! It’s perfectly fine to be saying, even if it can get a little annoying to hear. For example, have you heard your peers, kids, or grandkids say 6-7’ but you have no idea what it means, where it came from, or why it’s even a thing? Well, be prepared to never look at those two numbers the same again. Or any weird words we find along the way!
Starting off, we have an interview with Triton teacher Donielle Hrtanek, and we’ve interviewed her on the slang and its usage. When asked what the most often one she’s heard recently, she said that it was “Mute.” It’s just a new way to say “Be quiet.” She said she hears it at least five times a day, and she feels it’s tiring to hear. It’s not the nicest thing to say, and it’s used pretty often. When asked what slang word should be revived, she replied with “the word ‘Kewl’ (Cool but spelled differently).”
There’s more to be looked through, like referencing “Chat” as if they were livestreaming. Or referencing memes that they’ve seen, like the very recent series that started off a joke video where a half-life model had its head put into the toilet, and it sang a catchy little song. There are even people who go by “The Rizzler.” In short, modern slang is just another version of old slang, but even more quickly changing.
