Luke 2:12 12
And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
I know holidays can be difficult when we get older, or if we have lost a loved one. Holidays can become a season we don't enjoy anymore. I personally went through a period of time after my wife passed away that was pretty tough. I'm glad to say that time does heal all wounds. The holiday season is a time when we really need to reach out to people, like our children and close friends. If you are alone, this is a time to ask God for some help so we can enjoy the holidays.
Folks, we need to take some positive action, don't sit at home all alone, soon we will start feeling sorry for ourselves. So use that telephone to call someone. Christmas is coming soon, and my church, the First Congregational Church of Dodge Center, is having two events. One is a cookie walk from 9 am to 11 am on the 13th, and Sing a Song of Christmas on the 14th from 2 to 4 pm, and my Church is encouraging everyone to wear their ugliest Christmas sweaters for the Sing a Song. I know I will see many of my old and dear friends.
At Christmas time, let's remember the true meaning of why we celebrate that day, the birth of Jesus Christ, our savior. On Christmas Eve, I am so grateful for my four children, and some grandchildren who always come. This makes me feel younger when my kids all come home.
We all have so many things to be happy about. Keep those positive thoughts coming, keep your prayers going, and be grateful for every day God gives you.
Remember to call on your old friends today and hug those kids.

Larry Blood
