Artjom “Bookman” Alihodzin is a University student from Estonia doing his 5th summer selling educational books door to door here in Dodge County. He has spent the last couple weeks making calls in Dodge Center, Claremont and West Concord. About 400 University students from Europe come to the United States each summer to earn money for their education selling books door to door. He first introduces himself to the local city administration and gets permission to sell educational materials in the community before beginning his sales calls.
Artjom is studying for a Business degree back home in Estonia and is staying with a host family in Rochester while working here. He will be in the Dodge County area for another couple weeks. This is his first year in Minnesota and he finds the weather very similar to Estonia, unpredictable. In previous years he has working one summer in Utah and three summers in Ohio. He is enjoying his time and finds the people in southern Minnesota to be “very welcoming.”
