The 2024 Triton/K-W/-Hayfield girls soccer team is primed and readied for a new campaign. Anchored by third-year Head Coach Jeremy Himli, the Cobras feature an exciting, knowledgeable assistant coach in Liam Dostal. Himli’s Roster includes: Alyssa Knudson, Camila Medina, Miley Dostal, Romina Medina, Ryann Heimer, Rebekah Henslin, Haylie Budahn, Jade Scovill, Olivia Weber, Ashley Romero, Brianna Anguiano, RoseLyn Liudahl, Gigi Lundi, McKenzy Purinton, Courtney Chicos, Salma Fernandez, Alisson Velasco.
Key Players: Alyssa Knudson, became the goalkeeper midway through 2023 and cut the goals against by over 2 goals per game. Camila Medina, a great leader and solid 2-way midfielder. PB all-area in 2023. Romina Medina, led team with 7 goals in 2023. Gigi Lundi, is moving to forward full-time in 2024; team’s most explosive athlete. Olivia Weber, stalwart of the defense; one of the top center backs in the area. Keep an eye on Rose Scovill, first year in soccer as a junior; athletic and picking up the game quickly. Rebekah Henslin, 7th-grader that has impressed in camp with explosiveness and competitiveness.
Key Losses: Graduated 3 starters: Jessica Willette, Ameryn Dostal, and Ivette Mendoza and one other letterwinner, Nancy Fernandez. Senior Salma Fernandez is out to begin the season with an injury, and she may miss the season, depending on how her rehab progresses. 2023 Season Recap: 1-13-4, no conference record as the Cobras are an independent; lost 6-0 to PIZM in the Section 2A quarters. 2024 Season Outlook: “We have an experienced team that should be able to notch more wins. but our lack of depth will test us. Newcomers will be expected to play a lot of minutes. How quickly and how well they can fit in will determine how competitive we can be,” explained Coach Himli.
Competition: T/K-W/H was the 8th seed in Section 2A in 2023, but a couple of their ties turned to wins, which could have put them in 3rd or 4th. PIZM is the clear favorite with everybody else being a toss-up. Coach Himli’s team captains change continuously, as two different ones are selected each game.
