The Women's Shelter and Support Center is proud to announce the overwhelming success of its annual Transforming Lives 2024 fundraising luncheon, held at the Mayo Civic Center on October 22. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and sponsors, the event raised $99,200 to fund essential programs that offer critical support and safety to individuals and families affected by domestic violence.
This year’s event featured Nina Aouilk, a renowned international speaker and advocate for social justice, as the keynote speaker. Aouilk’s deeply moving address on resilience, hope, and empowerment captivated the audience and underscored the importance of providing a lifeline to survivors of domestic violence. “Her words touched everyone in the room,” said Artyce Thomas, Executive Director of the Women’s Shelter and Support Center. “Nina’s message of strength and healing was a perfect reflection of our mission to help survivors reclaim their lives.”
The luncheon drew a turnout of 170 guests attending in person to show their support. “We are deeply grateful to our community for showing up in such a powerful way,” said Thomas. “Their generosity sends a clear message to survivors: You are seen, you are supported, and you are not alone.”
The Women’s Shelter and Support Center extends its heartfelt thanks to Think Bank and Mayo Clinic for their leadership and sponsorship of this year’s event. Their unwavering support helps ensure that survivors receive the critical services they need to break the cycle of violence and begin their healing journey.
For those unable to attend the event, donations can still be made online through our secure website at www.womens-shelter.org. Every contribution, no matter the size, has a direct impact on the lives of those we serve.
