Charles E. (Chuck) Glarner, 94, of Kasson, MN, died Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Methodist Campus.

Charles was born April 14, 1929, in Mantorville, MN to Virgil and Aletha (Steele) Glarner. He went to rural school in Milton Township for elementary education and graduated from Mantorville High School in 1947.

He attended college in Glendale, California for two years until drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Korea in the 8th Field Artillery BTN, 27th Infantry Regiment 25th division as a field wireman until honorably discharged. He was employed by Union National Bank in Rochester, which was later Northwestern National Bank, then Norwest Bank, and currently Wells Fargo. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Banking, Madison, Wisconsin.

Charles married Eunice E Neale, in Racine, MN, and they had three children; Linda, Deborah, and Robert.

Chuck retired from Norwest bank after 32 years as the Senior Vice President in charge of commercial lending. He was very active in community affairs, including Rochester Chamber of Commerce – Treasurer, MN Robert Morris Association – President of Rochester Chapter, Rochester Toastmaster, MN Bankers Association, American Bankers Association, Kasson Economic Development, Rochester RAEDI, along with other clubs and charitable organizations too numerous to mention. Later he was employed by Kasson State Bank as the Senior Loan Officer for 15 years and served on their Board of Directors during that period. He retired from that position at age 70. Charles would split his time between his hobby farm in Byron, MN and his townhome in Green Valley, AZ.

He enjoyed playing golf, working on his farm, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children; Linda (Larry) Peterson of Rochester, MN, Deborah (Doug) DeWeese of Goodhue, MN; daughter-in-law, Lynn Glarner of Mapleton, MN; grandchildren, Adam (Nikki) Peterson, Paul Peterson, Grant Peterson, Tim (Nicole) DeWeese, Mike (Erica) DeWeese, Jamie Glarner and Robby Glarner; great-grandchildren, Max and Cal Peterson, and Laura DeWeese.

He is preceded in death by his son, Robert; his parents, two brothers, a sister, and Eunice Glarner.

The memorial gathering was held at 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. A luncheon followed in the River Park Chapel Reception Hall. Burial will be in the MN State Veterans Cemetery – Preston, MN at a later date.
