Triton Clay Target Team Wraps Up Season

Posted

The Triton Clay Target Team wrapped up the season in June. The team had 16 members participating in the Championship, with 6 of those being seniors. Coaches Mike Kelly and Craig Schlichting were pleased with the overall performances of the group. The Championship takes place each year in Alexandria. This year the team was in the 4A Class. Each team is categorized in one of the 9 Classes based on the number of participants on the team. Then at the Championships, all of the teams in that class shoot to compete for the best in class for the top three. Triton’s Alyssa Knutson shot a 45 out of 50 in the first round in the JV division which had her on the leader board after the first round. The winds made it difficult for the second round and she shot a 42, which was still a great score and her best for the season, but it wasn’t enough to get her in the top three for the JV division. At the varsity level it is not uncommon to see perfect scores of 100 out of 100 or very close to that. Our varsity shooters shot well, but not able to get into the top three positions to place at the championship. A special thanks to 6 of our seniors in the lower right picture from left to right, Austin Schlichting, Reece Dobbs, Liam Schlichting, Cale Giesler, Aiden Frette and Jordan Bennerotte. This was their last competition and they had great scores and great careers on the Triton Trap Shooting Team. Reece Dobbs placed in the top three at the varsity level the past two seasons and was an outstanding shooter for the Triton Team during her career. The team has a great group that will be returning, and we are always looking for more students to join.
